Euro 2020 Netherlands vs Czech Republic Player Ratings as the underdogs win 2-0 over Netherlands to qualify for the Quarters
Schick coming up clutch against Netherlands
Czech Republic breaks Dutch heart as the Oranje Storm crashes out of the EURO 2020 loosing 2-0 in the Round of 16
What good is any major tournament without its twist and turns and the story of an underdog instigating a major upset. The EURO 2020 didn’t disappoint in this aspect as we have the first major upset of the tournament. In an end to end game the Czechs piled on more misery on the 10 man Dutch team as they scored twice after De Ligt was given marching orders for a deliberate handball. The game was evenly poised till 55th min before VAR ruled red card for De Ligt who handled the ball deliberately as he took a slip.
The Czechs were too hot to handle for the reduced Netherlands side as Holes fired in an header before Patrick Schick rounded off a beautiful finish as the Czechs marched on to the Quaterfinal.
Netherlands vs Czech Republic Player ratings.
Here are the player ratings of the magical match between Netherlands and Czech Republic.
Netherlands Player ratings
1.Maarten Stekelenburg- 6/10 Steklenburg came up with few decent saves but he could not save Netherlands’ hopes of a quarter final place
3.Matthijs de Ligt- 5/10 The Juventus short stopper had a game to forget as his red card turned out to be the turning point of the match. He was solid throughout the first half but a failure to judge a high ball and a bizzare handling of the ball intentionally lead to a straight red card as Czech capitalised on the extra man to score twice.
17. Daley Blind- 5/10
Blind had some good moments with his long ball, but failed as a part of the defensive unit of the Dutch.
6. Stefan de Vrij – 5/10
He had a very decent outing, sloppy defending from the set piece as a part of the defense cost his side the second goal, could not do much with the second goal
22. Denzel Dumfries – 6/10
Dumfries was the only player in the Dutch squad who looked like he was trying. Dumfries was menace going up the right wing, with his physical presence and his teasing crosses.
21. Frenkie de Jong- 4/10
Another player who was expected to control the midfield game but failed horribly. De Jong’s only contribution of the game was his yellow card for arguing with the referee.
12. Patrick van Aanholt – 5/10
He hardly contributed anything to today’s game and was totally out of sort throughout the match.
15. Marten de Roon – 5/10 The Atalanta midfielder also failed to turn up on the pitch delivering a very lacklustre performance after the initial few minutes.
8. Georginio Wijnaldum– 3/10
The Dutch captain failed to turn up on the big occasion. Expected to pull the midfield strings, he disappeared in the game.
10. Memphis Depay- 5/10
Depay failed to make any mark on the game and turned up with a horrific performance. His set piece delivery was even sub par today
18 Donyell Malen – 5/10
Malen was wasteful throughout the game. He started the game well and looked lively but a wavy run and he was left ruing an one on one miss which probably was the most important moment of the game.

He had a decent game in between the stick. He saved the one on one against Malen which if had gone in would have turned the outcome of the game to something very different.
3. Ondrej Celustka- 7/10
Ably supported Kalas in the defense as he stood rock solid to thwart waves of Netherlands attack.
6. Tomas Kalas- 8/10
he was an Absolute rock at the back and didn’t give any chances to the Dutch to sniff out. His aerial threat paid dividend as he headed into the path of Holes to assist Czech’s first goal

Was very impressive on the right side of the defensive structure. He galloped forward on many occasions and was a constant threat to the Dutch defense with his runs
2. Pavel Kaderabek- 6/10
He didn’t have much contribution to the game, but he played his role quite to the point
12. Lukas Masopust- 6/10
He had a fair game. He had a stinging shot saved by Steklenburg however it would not haved counted as he was offside.
7.Antonin Barak- 7/10
He had a good game under his belt. Playing in the hole behind the structure he drifted wide to create more spaces and was efficiently good at doing so
13. Petr Sevcik- 6/10
He had a decent game, one would say he failed to find his footing appropriately in the match.
15. Tomas Soucek – 7/10
Soucek was the midfield enforcer of the match today. He covered grounds, won the ball found pockets of space to get into, and was good overall.
