£100m or more? Tottenham puts final price tag on Harry Kane just 15 months before expiry of his contract
Tottenham reportedly open to sell the English star.
Harry Kane
Reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur wants at least £100m for its all-time club top scorer Harry Kane if he is to leave this summer. Kane is rumored to have entered discussions over a Spurs renewal with less than 18 months left on his current deal. He is on 201 goals in the Premier League and is just 60 goals away from breaking the record. However, he has not won a trophy yet.
Spurs boss Antonio Conte is sure his star striker will stay at Tottenham in the future, but Harry Kane could be lured by the prospect of plying his trade at a club where he has a higher chance of winning silverware. Reports suggest Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is a big admirer of the player.
Manchester United won silverware for the first time since 2017 when they lifted the Carabao Cup at Wembley stadium via goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford. Meanwhile, Harry Kane has yet to win a single trophy for England or Tottenham Hotspur.
Given Tottenham’s recent struggles, a Champions League spot for the Red Devils and Tottenham dropping out of the top 4 could mean that the lure of Europe’s biggest competition proves too much to resist for the Englishman.

What lies next for Tottenham if Harry Kane decides to leave?
Tottenham Hotspur lost 1-0 to an 82nd-minute Adama Traore goal at the Molineux stadium on Saturday, with Harry Kane failing to make an impact. It is yet another disappointing loss for Spurs, who remain in the Champions League spots but have played 2 more games than Newcastle United and Liverpool, who are 4 and 6 points behind them respectively. Liverpool plays one of their games in hand tomorrow, facing Manchester United at Anfield.
Tottenham seems stuck in a cycle of scraping a European spot after a difficult season, where they lose out in domestic competitions and go out early in European competition. In the last 5 years, their best finish in the Premier League is 4th, and they have yet to progress further than Round 5 of the FA Cup.
They have competed well in the EFL Cup, reaching the final once and the semi-finals twice. They had a chance to win silverware in the 2019 Champions League final but lost to Liverpool after a poor performance. Coming to the present, they have lost two games in a row and are facing fierce competition for that 4th place spot, with Newcastle and Liverpool breathing down their necks.
The Lilywhites must focus on the long-term this summer and rebuild a team that lacks the excitement and creativity of those brilliant sides that made the Spurs support dream.
