40-yers old Chelsea legend won the Man of the match award in the first division ice hockey league debut for his new team

Petr Cech, a former goalie for the prestigious English Premier League team Chelsea, is shining now in a different sport, ice hockey. He recently signed a one-year contract with the Chelmsford Chieftains of the ice hockey league, and somehow helped them win their first game.

The Essex team is in the NIHL Division One South, one level higher than the Guildford Phoenix, Petr’s former club. Before retiring this summer, he made 20 appearances for the English Premier League club over the course of three years, helping them achieve a triple. Cech was honored as his team’s Man of the Match for his efforts as the Chieftains prevailed 6-4 in the contest.

Petr also gave out a statement before the match, “I’m excited for a new challenge with the Chieftains and I’m looking forward to helping the team reach their targets for the season.”. Chieftains head coach also has amazing words for the player and believes in his talents and it comes with pleasure that Petr Cech has delivered the same.

Chieftains head coach said, “Having a netminder of Petr’s quality and experience come into our squad is a huge boost for us right now. He brings a winning mentality, a desire to compete every single time he’s on the ice, and we look forward to seeing him add to our group this season.”

For the Chelsea team, Petr Cech had been a wonderful player and supporter. He had been with them for three years.. He spent 12 years playing for the English Premier League team Arsenal prior to joining Chelsea. He played a key role in Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League victory as well as their four Premier League championships.

Following Todd Boehly’s purchase of the team, Cech just resigned from his position as technical director at Chelsea. Since 2019, he had served on the team management’s advisory council. But despite the fact that he had played junior hockey in the Czech Republic, nobody genuinely knew about his love of the game.
