Adidas to re-release Zinedine Zidane’s iconic Adidas gold Predator boots ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Zinedine Zidane wore the famous gold Adidas Predator at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Adidas has finally taken a huge step forward and has decided to re-release one of the most iconic football boots which were worn by French legend Zinedine Zidane at the 2006 World Cup. The 2006 World Cup was Zidane’s final ever tournament and he was absolutely unstoppable throughout the tournament taking his country to the finals.

It was not all the end that fans throughout the world would have expected as the Real Madrid legend ended up getting sent off in the extra time of the match for headbutting Italy defender Marco Materazzi. He scored one of the most audacious penalties ever scored in world football, having the courage to slot a panenka past legend, Gianluigi Buffon to equalize for his side.

He wore one of Adidas’s best-made boots, the metallic gold Predator Absolute and the pictures of him playing with that beauty will forever be remembered in the hearts of all his fans. Adidas have quite often taken the initiative of bringing back some of their classic boots over the years and these gold beauties are also set to release before the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

How good was Zidane at the 2006 FIFA World Cup?

Zinedine Zidane was arguably the best player on the planet during the 2005/06 season and this was the last time Zidane wore the Real Madrid shirt having decided to hang up his boots after the World Cup. He played 38 matches for Madrid scoring 9 goals and providing 12 assists. A lot of hope was on the player as very few doubted his abilities despite him being 34 years old.

He scored three crucial goals in the World Cup scoring the winner in both the quarter-final and the semi-final against then-world champions, Brazil and Portugal respectively. The match against Brazil is considered the best show in the history of Zidane’s international career as he single-handedly brought the elite generation of Brazil to the face of defeat.
