Manchester United winger, Alejandro Garnacho, gave tribute to his idol in their game against Arsenal. Garnacho made an appearance in the 84th minute of the game which ended in a 3-1 win for the London-based side.

Alejandro Garnacho has made it no secret that Cristiano Ronaldo is his idol. Against Arsenal, the forward gave tribute to the Portuguese by wearing the same model Nike cleats that Cristiano had worn in his game against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League Semi-Final back in 2009. The Argentine made his debut for the Argentina NT by picking Ronaldo’s debut kit number when he was at Manchester United, no. 28.

Recently, he also picked his new kit number- no.17, as a reference to Ronaldo’s number in the Portuguese National Team before donning the No.7. Alejandro Garnacho has gone as far as purchasing an Al-Nassr jersey, the club where Ronaldo is currently playing.

Garnacho has made a public admission that he believes Ronaldo is the GOAT as he made a post on Instagram where the 17-year-old, at that time, took a photo post-game and posted it Greatest of all time with him and Ronaldo sharing a moment. The Argentine also asked the Portuguese permission to use his celebration after scoring a goal for United. He will now go to South America for International duties to play with the man many believe to be the actual GOAT, Lionel Messi.

Garnacho is one of the few fortunate players to have played with both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi during his active career. A privilege many can only dream of.

Manchester United signed Garnacho from Atletico de Madrid in 2020. The player had previously played youth-level football for Getafe and Atletico. The Argentine spent one year at youth level for United before making his debut in the ’21/22 season. Now, the youngster has become an important player off the bench. Especially in the 21/22 Premier League season, where he scored 3 goals in 19 appearances.

The player’s main traits are his quickness and agility. He is also good on the ball and isn’t afraid to take the man on when left one-on-one. Garnacho’s best position is at left wing which is currently held by Marcus Rashford. Tough competition as the Englishman scored 30 in all competitions last season, having one of his best. With the young winger having to compete against one of the best forward players at United, he shows no indication that he is not up for the challenge.

Fans believe that Garnacho is still young and needs playing time to improve. With the player turning 19 only this year, the Argentine Winger will be hoping to make that left-wing his new home, the same as his idol did.
