Salary worth 5X of Cristiano Ronaldo: All you need to know about Al Hilal’s first offer to Lionel Messi
Reports say Messi would not have a problem with leaving PSG.

Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal made an official offer to Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi in the past hours. It includes a yearly salary of over $438 million (€400 million). However, the Argentine reportedly prefers to stay in Europe.
If he accepts the monstrous offer, it would be a significant boost for Saudi Arabia to have two superstars of world football playing in their professional league tournaments. Messi is in a precarious situation with PSG, having failed to find a contract agreement. As his contract with PSG expires in the summer, a free transfer to the middle east is a viable option for Messi.
Jorge Messi, Messi’s father and business agent, has recently been in Riyadh, sparking speculation that he is negotiating a move for his son. If Messi moves to Saudi Arabia, he will face off against his generational rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr, another Riyadh club, in December. Al-Hilal are currently seven points behind Ronaldo’s team, with the season nearing its end.
Messi visited Saudi Arabia several times for promotional purposes as a Saudi tourism ambassador. Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb recently invited Messi and his family and friends to enjoy “beautiful Saudi tourist destinations, exemplary experiences, and the generosity of the Saudi people.”

Lionel Messi’s troubles at PSG

The World Cup winner is currently having a tough time at the French club, with fans’ animosity at an all-time high. Supporters booed him during games and recently chanted ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’ when Messi took a corner for his side. PSG have already tabled a contract offer, but Lionel has yet to accept it as he is seeking sporting guarantees from the French champions.
With the two parties’ relations reportedly deteriorating, an exit appears to be the most likely option. According to French sources, Messi prioritises a return to Barcelona in the summer, with his family also favouring a return to Catalonia.
Meanwhile, Barcelona is waiting for clarification on their Financial Fair Play issues before starting talks and submitting an offer. According to reports, they are hoping for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner to come back for “one last dance.”
