Alphonso Davies is known for his speed and his fun attitude outside the pitch. The Canadian is a star wing-back for Bayern Munich. However, in the latest news, Alphonso admits to being snubbed by Barcelona for a very weird reason that left him broken.
The 22-year-old revealed to the Say Less podcast that the Spaniards had previously tried to sign him and went on to explain why it did not work out. “Barcelona actually reached out but the president said they didn’t want me,” he said. “They said they didn’t want me because I was Canadian. I’m not gonna lie that kind of crushed my feelings a little bit.”
Alphonso Davies continues by stating that although he is unsure of the story’s accuracy though. “That’s what came out in the media. I don’t know if he actually said that but yeah it’s what came out,”, he said. Barcelona would definitely regret passing out Davies, considering his stellar performance against them in a 8-2 thrashing against Bayern Munich in 19-20 Champions League.
Prior to joining Bayern Munich in 2019, Davies started his career with the Vancouver Whitecaps. In the years thereafter, he has seen great success in Germany. He has won the Bundesliga five times, the German Cup twice, and the Champions League in 2020. Davies has shot up to stardom ever since joining Bayern and it can be said that Barcelona missed out on a talented player.

Alphonso Davies, the next Galactico?
Alphonso Davies is linked with a transfer to Real Madrid. The star’s contract situation at Bayern is unclear. As the talks between Bayern and the player have stalled, Madrid watches the situation closely. Nedal Huoseh, the agent of Alphonso Davies, has discussed the allegations with renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.
“We were almost there I think, I was in Munich, and I woke up the next day… And I saw all the news, that they had been sacked. I waited for a couple of extra days and nobody had reached out, so I jumped on a plane to Canada,” said the speedster and admitted talks have stalled after former Bayern General Director Oliver Kahn and Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic were sacked.
He continued,“Right now we haven’t made any decisions on anything, and he is part of the Bayern team. We can’t confirm anything, and we can’t deny anything. I’ve always been a big fan of Real Madrid, as a fan in general, you know 14 Champions Leagues. It makes you proud when you see someone you manage linked with Real Madrid.” The Canadian had previously spoken about his mental health, calling himself a “popular loser”.
He still denied any contact between the clubs. “There is nothing concrete with any club, one club has to want to sell, another has to initiate talks, and then the player has to want to leave. We don’t know if those talks have happened between clubs, and where those discussions have gone.” He commented. Alphonso’s future thus hangs in the balance.
