Anthony Gordon expresses wish to leave Everton for Chelsea to boost his chances for 2022 FIFA World Cup: Reports
Anthony Gordon nearing a move to Chelsea
Anthony Gordon has asked Everton manager Frank Lampard to let him leave as he wants to join Chelsea. It is quite understandable that he wants to experience Champions League football and he wants to boost his chances of getting a national team call-up ahead of the 2022 World Cup. Chelsea has agreed to pay a sum of £50 million plus £10 million in add-ons for the highly talented midfielder.
Anthony has been a constant target for Chelsea for a long time now and the priority signing for Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, who looks to fix his side’s attacking weakness as his side currently sits in the 12th position in the Premier League. With just four points in the opening three matches and a 3-0 thrashing against Leeds in the last match, Tuchel working on this deal looks is quite explanatory.
Anthony Gordon has his eyes set on the 2022 World Cup squad
Gordon has been a constant name in the transfer window this summer and Everton has already turned down several bids from Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. But Gordon looks far from settled at Everton at the moment and wants a move away from the club as soon as possible but the club wants a far more improved offer considering Gordon’s present contract which has him bound for three more years.
Having already lost their talisman Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the transfer window, Everton is not prepared to tell another crucial player to depart, and also there isn’t any kind of financial obligation for the club. There is a further reluctance on Everton’s part in that Gordon’s exit would leave them with little time to source a replacement.
Everton is currently looking to land Southampton’s Che Adams in order to replace Richarlison in the striker position. With a lot of players leaving Chelsea like Lukaku and Werner, Tuchel looks to strengthen their attacking ranks with the inclusion of Gordon after already signing Raheem Sterling from Man City.
Chelsea’s front three: Sterling, Mount, and Havertz have managed just one assist in the first three games and Tuchel wants to solve the problems by signing top talent Anthony Gordon.
