Manchester United forward Anthony Martial was one of the biggest names set to leave Old Trafford this summer as United planned a summer clear-out for all the unwanted players.

However, after a disappointing loan stint at Sevilla last season, it seems United are finding it hard to offload the player who still earns €240,000/week and could be forced to keep him at the club for the new season, as reported by Manchester Evening News.

Anthony Martial will return for pre-season next week with other united stars

Being one of the players not involved in any international games this summer, Anthony Martial will return for pre-season training next week. This period will be crucial for the Frenchman as he aims to impress the new boss and become a regular starter for Manchester United next season.

Manchester United currently have Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga among others in their ranks as forwards for next season. The club have already expressed their interest in signing 1 or more forwards in this transfer window.

Hence, Anthony Martial will have to do it all to convince Eric ten Hag that he deserves a place in the starting XI or be content with a bench role next season. Unless the 26-year-old can find himself a new club in the summer.

Manchester United signed Anthony Martial in 2015 when they paid £36 million to sign the teenage sensation. Anthony Martial has improved a lot since then but has failed to get the ground running in his last seasons.

Martial has only scored 8 goals across all competitions for United over the last 2 years, while he managed just one for Sevilla during his loan move last season. However, the player has shown what he’s worth before and will be eager to get back to his best.
