Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal played Aston Villa in the Premier League on February 18. Arsenal scored two goals in the dying minutes of the game to win 4-2, as they retained their position on top of the league, following a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on February 16. The clash against Aston Villa was a dramatic thriller, as an own goal from Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, and a stoppage-time goal from Gabriel Martinelli sealed the deal for Arsenal. Fans were thrilled by Arsenal’s hard-fought victory.
Arsenal conceded an early goal as Ollie Watkins scored the opener for Aston Villa, 5 minutes into the game. The Gunners’ exciting youngster Bukayo Saka equalized within 20 minutes. ex-Barcelona forward Philippe Coutinho handed Villa their lead in the first half, scoring a simple tap-in on the 31st minute of the game. Arsenal went into halftime trailing behind.
Arsenal dominated the game in second half with 66% percent possession. The Gunners fired 18 shots in the second half, while Aston Villa managed to take 3 shots. Arsenal scored the equalizer in the 61st minute as Oleksandr Zinchenko scored a sublime goal from the edge of the penalty box. Aston Villa managed to hold Arsenal back for the majority of the game, before recent signing Jorginho shot a great effort from the outside of the penalty box in the 93rd minute, which deflected off Emiliano Martinez into the back of the net. Gabriel Martinelli scored the final goal in the 98th minute from a counter attack.

Arsenal regained their top spot in the Premier League after a crucial 4-2 victory against the Villans. The Gunners’ fans took to social media to share their reactions. The Gunners have a two-point lead against City, with a game in hand. Jorginho, the recent Arsenal signing received praise from the fans after his effort on target led to an own goal, late in the game.
“ARSENAL COMEBACK HERO! JORGINHO,” a thrilled fan tweeted, praising Jorginho’s beautiful effort, which led to the goal. Other fans shared their relief, after Arsenal’s recent struggles, as they only managed to win 2 times in their last 5 games. “Phew! We can now rest in peace.” Fans, who earlier criticized Jorginho’s move to Arsenal, tweeted their apologies for the player after the game. “Writing my apologies for Jorginho.”
The Gunners have taken the lead, with 54 points in the Premier League table, after playing 23 games. Second placed Manchester City are close behind, with 51 points. Manchester City play Nottingham in their upcoming league match on February 18.
