On 4th February, Liverpool went to the Emirates Stadium to play Arsenal. In one of the most important games of the season, a win for Arsenal meant they could get two points behind the league leaders, keeping themselves in the title race. And that is exactly what the Gunners did.
The game ended 3-1, with Mikel Arteta’s men playing one of their best games of the season. They contained the Liverpool attack, which managed only one shot on target throughout the game. Strikes from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard ensured the Gunners left the game with three points.
As the team celebrated the important victory, captain Martin Odegaard did something that did not make Jamie Carragher happy. Odegaard took photos for the club photographer and well-known fan, Stuart MacFarlane, in front of the fans.
Seeing Odegaard’s gesture, the former Liverpool captain lost his cool. Unhappy with his club’s loss, he went on a small rant about how the Arsenal captain should “get down the tunnel” after a brilliant performance.

His reaction received some chuckles from his fellow commentators as well. Arsenal and their members have been accused in the past for over-celebrating wins, with commentators often complaining about it.

Many Arsenal fans found Jamie Carragher’s words not required and mocked him for his complaining. They mentioned the time he spat on a 14-year-old girl, and wondered if that was ok when compared to taking pictures.
The fans also called him a crybaby for complaining. They also mentioned the time the Liverpool players and Jurgen Klopp celebrated a 2-2 draw against West Brom in Anfield. Check out their reactions:
Stuart MacFarlane, a boyhood Arsenal fan, has been a photographer at the club since January 2001. He is well known between the fans and the players, being a loved figure amongst all of them. Arteta had even called up MacFarlane to give a pre-match speech before an important North London Derby in 2021, which they ended up winning.
With this win, Arsenal remain steady in the title race. After a string of poor results in December, they have come back, winning their last three matches. The Gunners are now 2nd, just two points behind Liverpool. Unfortunately, both clubs have played two games more than the defending champions, Manchester City. If City win their games in hand, they could jump to the top of the table.
