According to reports, Atletico Madrid is set to bid goodbye to their striker Luis Suarez at the end of the season. He didn’t renew his contract with the team as he will play his last home game at the Wanda Metropolitana against Sevilla.

Suarez and Hector Herrera are soon leaving the club as they will be paid tribute by the management and fans at home against Sevilla as their farewell reward. Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist, has posted Suarez’s exit from Atletico Madrid as he will be a free agent after the summer and is open to many big clubs signing him for free. 

Luis Suarez joined Atletico Madrid from Barcelona in 2020 scoring 21 goals in the debut season and also winning the La Liga crown. He has scored 11 league goals and two assists this season in 33 appearances for the club.

His next destination could be anywhere in Europe but he is wanted by the MLS clubs as he is offered to play in the MLS league which might be a new challenge for the Uruguayan as he looks to take up new challenges. The club has posted a message regarding Suarez’s departure stating that he will be paid tribute as he will take the field against Sevilla at the Wanda Metropolitana in their last league match.

An Atletico statement read: “At the end of the game, the Wanda Metropolitano will pay tribute to Luis Suarez and Hector Herrera, who are saying goodbye to the Red & White family today.”

Diego Simeone talks about the conversations and discussions that both of them had for a very long time. The Uruguayan opened up on his future and the club’s future in front of his coach and they spoke about what is better for both the entities.

“I had a talk in mid-November with him. Long, hard, sincere talk. From that talk until today, each one from his place, respected everything we talked about and that doesn’t happen much. I am grateful to Luis…” said Simeone in a recent press conference.

Suarez spent two years at the club and has been impressive in Simeone’s squad as he won the crown in his first season and they are currently in the third rank which makes them qualify for the champions league next season.
