Barcelona legend and player Gerard Pique has announced his retirement through an emotional video on his Twitter and fans are blaming Juan Laporta for this incident relating to his bad relationship with the player. Pique even rejected Laporta’s Barcelona farewell offer because he wanted to announce it on social media and help the club with £44 million.

President Joan Laporta wanted to hold a joint press conference for giving the long-serving player a perfect farewell. The news came as a shock for the entire world but it was later heard that Pique informed Laporta personally about his decision last week for helping with the financial issue of the club as he has been under constant pressure to leave as Barcelona aimed to get rid of his high wages.

Pique was not favored by Xavi in important matches and with having not performed well in recent months, he received a lot of criticism and that the club has already signed a lot of youngsters at the start of the season to replace him. By announcing his departure, he has now also rejected significant money from the club, which was under his contract that was signed until 2024.

Pique said, “For weeks there has been talk about me. “I have not said anything but I want to speak now. Like many of you, coming from a football family, I have always been a Barcelona fan. I did not want to be a footballer, I wanted to play for Barca. Recently, I have thought a lot about when I was younger.”

He added, “Football has given me everything, Barca have given me everything, you the fans have given me everything. And now my childhood dreams have been fulfilled, the moment has arrived to close this chapter. I have always said that after Barcelona there will be no other team and that is how it will be. Saturday will be my last game at Camp Nou. See you at Camp Nou. Visca Barca, always and forever.”
