Bayern Munich is anticipated to reject Barcelona’s latest bid of €35 million (£30 million) plus €5 million in add-ons for Robert Lewandowski. Despite interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, the striker is adamant about joining Barcelona and has verbally committed to a three-year contract.

Senior Bayern officials have continued to state in public that Lewandowski has a one-year option and that they anticipate him returning for preseason practice on July 12. The player indicated last month that his time at Bayern was “finished” and that he didn’t think the team would keep him against his will.

Hasan Salihamidzic, the board member for sport at Bayern, seemed to leave open the idea of Lewandowski departing for the appropriate price during an interview he gave to Sky on Thursday in Germany. When asked to provide the possibility of the player staying as a percentage, he responded, “Up till now, it’s 100 percent.”

When asked if the Poland international would be permitted to depart for enough money, Salihamidzic smiled and replied, “I don’t know. No, as I have stated, I never engage with current affairs. Lewandowski was anticipated to return as scheduled,” he continued.

In Mallorca last week, Oliver Kahn, the CEO of Bayern, and Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, met with Salihamidzic. Lewandowski might be reintegrated into the club, according to Salihamidzic, who called it a “nice dialogue” in which each side laid out its positions. It can be fixed, he replied.

The tone of Salihamidzic’s remarks has changed from Herbert Hainer, the president of Bayern, last month. Robert’s contract is good until 2023, according to Hainer. He will only play with us for that long.
