Barcelona’s left-back Marcos Alonso is set to undergo a back surgery in the lumbar region. He has been struggling with mobility and movement issues and has been sidelined for over three weeks recently.

The 33-year-old player has confirmed the decision with the club. Barcelona is currently fourth in the league,, seven points behind league leaders Real Madrid and Girona after 18 games.

The club has refrained from providing a timeline around his injury and a specific date for his recovery. This indicates that he could be further out for longer than expected on his road to full recovery.
