In a recent interview, Sergio Roberto opened up about his thoughts on a possible Lionel Messi-Barcelona reunion. Sergi Roberto reportedly said, “We are waiting for Leo, we want him at Barça”.

Rumors have started swirling for quite some time now that Leo Messi might be open for a Barcelona return. Especially after Paris Saint Germain’s exit from the UEFA Champions League, Meesi’s departure seems inevitable. Messi is at PSG for two seasons now. Although the first season was not what he expected, Messi seems to have found his rhythm in the second season at Parc des Princes. In 2022/23, Messi made 32 appearances for the french club. Messi has managed to find the back of the net 18 times this season for PSG. He has also managed to have 17 assists under his name.

Messi has a contract with Parisians which would eventually end in June 2023. There haven’t been any concrete talks over a possible contract renewal. Although PSG has cleared the fact that they are very interested in keeping Messi in Paris.

Barcelona has emerged as a possible destination for Messi should he choose to leave PSG. His former teammate Sergio Roberto has now spoken about his thoughts on the possible reunion. Roberto said, “I hope Messi comes back. We are waiting for him. He does not deserve the treatment he receives in Paris“. Roberto then added that everyone would be prepared for Messi’s return, if one had to take the opinion of the players they would find that everyone is ready to have Messi back. But it’s not for them to decide, so they wouldn’t talk a lot about it.

Offers are reportedly being weighed from Saudi Arabia and America. Al Hilal and Inter Miami also seem to be very interested to sign the Argentinian maestro. It is to be seen now whether Messi chooses to stay in PSG or will he return to Barcelona for a second stint. Or will Messi go on to a new quest outside Europe?

Barcelona took a huge step towards winning their first league title in four years by beating the champions for a third successive time. The result left second-placed Real 12 points adrift of the leaders. Roared by almost 100,000 fans in a sold-out Camp Nou, Barca was the better side. They earned a well-deserved win against a Real Madrid side that at times seemed resigned to their fate.

Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in a post-match interview, said, “We have to be honest. We never gave up, but we are already four games behind them. Nothing is impossible, but the truth is that it’s very difficult (to win the title).” The match was electrifying from the start with Barcelona pressing high and they almost scored in the sixth minute with a point-blank header by Raphinha that Courtois brilliantly stopped with a reflex save using his right fist. From the rebound, Sergi Roberto fired fierce shot inches over the bar. But Barcelona was quick to regroup and they took control of the game.

Andreas Christiansen could have scored twice from two corners and Raphinha attempted an angled shot from the edge of the area. But Courtois denied that with another great save. Barcelona did not take its foot off the gas after the break and created several opportunities. But it was Real substitute Marco Asensio who netted a goal that could have changed the results in the 81st minute. However, his close-range effort was ruled out by the VAR after the replay showed he was fractionally offside.

Barca kept pushing for the winner. Finally, Barcelona got it in added time when Alejandro Balde raced down the left channel and crossed to Kessie who was left unmarked in the far post. He unleashed an unstoppable first-touch strike to give Barca the win of the season.

Last night’s Classico was very special for FC Barcelona. The win meant quite a lot to them as it was their 100th El Classico victory. Real Madrid is still leading with wins but can be equalled in the Copa Del Rey semi-finals second leg.
