“Black Sh*t,” Here’s what allegedly provoked Sadio Mane to punch Bayern’s fellow mate Leroy Sane in the face
The player could face possible punishments after altercation
Following the heavy defeat against Manchester City, reports emerged that Sadio Mane had punched Leroy Sane in the face and that the two players needed to be separated from their fellow teammates in the dressing room. The incident is set to reap big consequences for both players but the duo trained together on Thursday morning.
Their teammates reportedly intervened and sent Sane out of the dressing room to bring the situation under control. The German allegedly aimed derogatory remarks at Sadio Mane which resulted in the reaction. The German has since reportedly expressed his regret on the matter and the Senegalese has apologized to his teammates for hitting Sané. Recent reports have suggested that his future at the club is not in danger.
Bayern has since announced that Mane will not be a part of the squad for the Bundesliga clash against Hoffenheim. The Senegalese international will also be fined for his actions. Since his summer move in the summer, Mane has scored 11 goals and has provided five assists in 31 matches for the Bavarians. He came on as a substitute against Manchester City at the Etihad, while Sane was on the pitch from the start against his former club.
Bundesliga leaders Bayern will next play 14th-placed Hoffenheim on April 15. They will take on Manchester City in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals on April 19 at the Allianz Arena. Mane could return to the squad as early as the City game as long as he shows remorse for his behavior. There have been no reports yet regarding Mane’s possible involvement in that crucial game.
The possible sanctions Sadio Mane could face after his bust-up with teammate
Bayern Munich has settled the issue between Leroy Sane and Sadio Mane stemming from their altercation after Tuesday’s loss to Manchester City. A meeting took place between the club bosses and the players involved, as well as Mane’s management, and the Senegalese winger allegedly admitted his fault. Sadio Mane will remain a Bayern Munich player, for now.
A sanction for the player, at least a major fine is still pending. Both players apologized to the squad for their actions and have now rejoined full-team training. The details regarding Mane’s possible punishment are as follows. A fine of around half a million euros. Leroy Sane specifically asked the club to not sack Sadio Mane and spoke in favor of a more lenient punishment.
Mane could still leave in the summer, the door is not closed to an exit. For now, the bosses consider the topic closed and expect the team to focus on the games against Hoffenheim and Man City. Now the focus will shift to the games in the Bundesliga where matches are crucial. Given that Manchester City has virtually ended all hopes of progression in the Champions League, Bayern needs to step up in the German top flight to at least win one trophy this season.
