Brazilian legend Cafu is preparing a lawsuit against his former clubs in a case of violation of his image rights. He is challenging Qatar Airways and his former club, AS Roma, who have violated the contract of his image rights.
According to Goal, Cafu had traveled to Italy four years ago to record a testimonial film for the club. He had asked his agent to negotiate a fee for his involvement, but the talks went comparatively slowly to Cafu’s liking.
Things got even worse when the club was sold to the Friedkin family by the previous owner, James Palotta before an agreement could be reached with the iconic player. However, Cafu had refrained from filing a lawsuit due to his immense love and respect for the club.
Surprisingly, in a turn of events, he now seeks compensation for damages amounting to £10 million ($12 million) based on a period of 46 months during which his sponsorship arrangements and advertisement were constantly aired on television.
