Champions League 2022-23 Manchester City v Bayern Munich: Live Stream, Where and How to Watch?
Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel will have have to pull off a miracle to come out trumps in this fixture.
Bayern Munich hosts Manchester City in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals at the Allianz Arena. The Germans succumbed to a heavy 3-0 defeat in the reverse fixture and would want to cut the deficit at the home ground as well. Manchester City on the other hand has been brilliant throughout this campaign and has reduced the gap between the first spot to four points with a game in hand in the Premier League.
The clubs are challenging for the league titles in their respective divisions while topping their Champions League groups as well. Manchester City has been in scintillating form winning a streak of 10 matches and is set on course for an 11th. Bayern Munich has seen a decline in form after inconsistent performances crashing out of the DFB-Pokal in the quarterfinals.
The Bavarians will need a miracle if they are to qualify for the latter stages. However, given their great experience in the competition and the fact that they play at home ground, nothing seems impossible and Bayern might still have a slender chance to make one of the greatest comebacks in Champions League history. The Blues are yet to win the prize but under Pep Guardiola, the club has seen massive success and will hope to win the competition.
Bayern Munich and Manchester City in the Champions League
They have met each other seven times with the Bavarians having three wins and the Blues with four to their name. Bayern Munich has six titles to their name the most recent coming from the 2019-20 season. However, they have lacked a clinical presence since the departure of Robert Lewandowski who is their record goalscorer in the competition. Choupo-Moting is their only reliable striker but still lacks the quality of the Poland international and is injured to make matters worse.
Manchester City is looking to win the competition and hopes to this time. They couldn’t when Sergio Aguero, their all-time top scorer raced the game and hoped his replacement in Erling Haaland can fill the trophy void who is currently the top scorer of the UCL. The Blues won their latest meeting in the Champions League winning 3-0 in the reverse fixture.
Possible eleven
Their thrashing of Bayern Munich in the first leg will encourage Pep Guardiola to start a similar lineup without many changes. Although the return of Phil Foden is unlikely, the club still has immense quality in all aspects and hope to reproduce the same feat. Bayern Munich will probably start with their strongest lineup despite previous results.
Manchester City predicted XI: Ederson, John Stones, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish, Erling Haaland.
Bayern Munich predicted XI: Yann Sommer, Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs De Ligt, Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala, Kingsley Coman, Thomas Muller.
