Inter Milan and AC Milan, two eternal city rivals face off in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals at the San Siro. Both teams come with good morale after Milan is enduring an unbeaten streak of nine games whereas Inter has won their last five matches. The two clubs share ten UCL titles between them but the Italian giants have struggled in recent years.
AC Milan, the reigning Champions of Italy, dropped off heavily in the Serie A being currently fifth in the Italian top flight with Napoli winning the title with matches to spare. However, they have endured an impossible run in the Champions League beating the likes of Tottenham and the League leaders in the UCL. It is fair to say they have concentrated massively on the European prize which defines their position in all competitions.
Inter Milan currently, the champions of the 2020-21 campaign currently sit on fourth spot. They have been brilliant in the past few matches with their frontman Lautaro Martinez being one of the top scorers in the league. The Nerrazzuris got fairly easier draws beating the likes of Porto and Benfica to reach the semis.

They have faced off four times in the UCL with Milan unbeaten in all matches winning and drawing twice. The Rossoneris boasts a rich history in the competition being the team that has the second most tiles after Real Madrid with seven. However, a decline in recent years has seen them going trophyless during the years but the emergence of Stefano Pioli saw them bounce back winning the Serie A last year and hops to add more. AC Milan last tasted success in Europe back in 2007.
Inter has won the UEFA Champions League three times, the last completing an unprecedented Italian treble with the Coppa Italia and the Scudetto. Inter Milan is the last Italian club to win the UEFA Champions League trophy, having beaten Bayern Munich for the 2009-10 title. They won the Supercoppa Italiana this season against the same rivals and looks to add more.

AC Milan knocking out League leaders Napoli in the UCL semifinals will encourage the head coach to start a very similar lineup for their upcoming clash. Inter would not want to leave out their no.9 who is a clinical presence in front of goal. Each of them has won their previous matches against top-class opposition and comes with good morale.
