The Blues are still looking to win their first trophy in the European stage
Real Madrid hosts Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Blues are sparkling bright enduring an unbeaten run of 20 consecutive matches and are a heavy favorite to win the competition. Los Blancos on the other hand have been dull this campaign losing three of their last four matches.
Manchester City has seemingly done the impossible topping the Premier League charts after Arsenal dominated the league in the first half of the campaign. However, injuries and inconsistent performances saw them slip to second place with the campaign nearing its end. The Blues are a point above second having a game in hand as well.
Real Madrid slipped to third place in La Liga owing to their latest results and Atletico Madrid’s stellar form and Barcelona’s dominance during the start of the campaign. However, they have won the Copa del Rey this season and look to add more with the UCL as the only option for a possible double.

They have met each other eight times with both clubs having three wins to their name and drawing two. Real Madrid have won the competition a record 14 times, the highest of any team. However, their recent performances can cause an upset in the upcoming fixture. While their attack has been brilliant during the campaign, sloppy mistakes and poor performances at the back have cost them dearly and the Blues are sure to take advantage.
Manchester City is looking to win the competition and hopes to this time. The emergence of Erling Haaland in the squad who has broken the top scoring charts in the English division and is currently the top scorer of the UCL ultimately makes them the heavy favorites to win it under Pep Guardiola, who has helped the club to reach these heights.

Their recent dominance in the Premier League will encourage the City coach to start similar lineups without many changes. Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne will undoubtedly be the first names on the team sheet being both the top scorer and top assist provider respectively in the Premier League. Real Madrid will probably start their strongest lineups despite recent results.
