Chelsea appoints a new Co-Director for their Recruitment and Talent unit

Chelsea has recently taken a step ahead to boost up their squad and have appointed Joe Shields as their new co-director of recruitment and talent just after appointing Laurence Stewart as the technical director. Shields will leave Southampton and will join the London side once his obligations with the Saints are complete.

New Owner Todd Boehly is pumped up and has already set his eyes on taking the club to the next level and is doing everything possible to make sure the dream turns into reality. After taking over the club this summer, he has appointed much new staff in many key areas, and also did the unthinkable by sacking German coach Thomas Tuchel with Graham Potter just weeks after the season kicked off.

Boehly and his co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali took to the Chelsea website and confirmed, “Joe is another great addition to Chelsea, and we’re thrilled to have him on board. We have a clear plan and will adopt a modern and data-driven philosophy focused on elite emerging talent.”

What is Todd Boehly eyeing for?

Joe Shields left Southampton to join Chelsea.

It is no secret that new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is really determined in making Chelsea the number-one club in Europe yet again and his actions in recent weeks are a prime example of that. He has recently expressed, “We’re assembling a deep and collaborative management team who are eager to build a continued sustained winner at Chelsea.”

On account of the new addition of Joe Shields, he said, “Joe has a great track record and understanding of the game and emerging talent. We know we have another strong leader and a team player who will help us continue to build our world-class football organization.” Chelsea is looking to set in with the new manager and has qualified for the round of 16 of the Champions League and is currently placed 5th in the Premier League.
