Chelsea

It has been 3 days since Chelsea submitted their €55 million offer to Sevilla for Jules Kounde. However, since then, Barcelona has been trying to hijack the deal for the French defender and even though they cannot match Chelsea’s payment terms, they are confident in convincing Sevilla.

The Spanish Giants are huge admires of Jules Jounde and have had him in their wishlist for a long time. However, the club’s finanical distress meant they couldnt prioratise the deal for the young centreback.

However, the club have now made an official approahc to Sevilla about their desire to sign the player with a £51 million offer. They match the Blues’ bid but on diffiernet terms. Since, Kounde’s first choice is Barcelona, Sevilla will be forced to sell the player to the Blaugrana.

As a result, Chelsea have now reportedly decided not to negotiate with Barcelone for their fullbacks Cesar Azpelicueta and Marcos Alonso who are also in Barcelona’s wishlist this summer.

After Raphinha and Lewandowski, Kounde to become 3rd player to snub Chelsea for Barcelona

This is not the first time in this transfer window that Barcelona have hijacked a deal from Thomas Tuchel. It happened the first time when Chelsea tried to swoop in for Leeds United winger, Raphinha. However, even after Leeds accepted Chelsea’s bid, the club eventually sold the player to the Catalan Club who had already agreed terms with the player.

The same thing also happened with Robert Lewandowski who only wanted Barcelona move and nothing else. Hence, even though the Blues were interested in teh 33 year old striker, they couldn’t do much about it.

Jules Kounde is very close to signing for Barcelona now as Chelsea are ready to move on to other targets. They have already signed Kalidou Koulibaly and could look at PSG’s Presnel Kimpembe also as an option.
