“Pulled our pants down; Worse than facing heartbreak”- Chelsea faces humiliation on social media after losing PL tie against Brighton
Chelsea have lost all their games under new interim manager Frank Lampard.
Chelsea extended their winless run as they lost 2-1 to Brighton and Hove Albion. Goals from Danny Welbeck and Julio Enciso cancelled out Conor Gallagher’s opener to give Brighton a hard-fought victory.
The first half saw Brighton keeping most of the possession. However, it was Chelsea who drew first blood. Mykhaylo Mudryk laid the ball on a plate for Conor Gallagher who put a deflected shot into the net.
Kepa Arrizabalaga was also at his best as he pulled off some fine saves in the first 45, one of which led to Brighton forward Evan Ferguson getting injured. This led to Danny Welbeck coming on for him. This did not play well with Chelsea, as Pascal Gross’ cross found Welbeck’s head as he equalized right before the break.
The second half saw another Brighton attacking onslaught as they maintained possession yet again. The Seagulls finally broke the deadlock in the second half as Julio Enciso fired a rocket into the top left corner out of Kepa’s reach. Brighton’s defence held on Chelsea’s half-hearted attacks for the last half-hour to hold on for the win.

The loss for Chelsea meant Frank Lampard lost his third game in a row as the interim manager of the club. They previously lost to Wolves and Real Madrid in the Premier League and the Champions League, respectively.
The result keeps the Blues at 11th on the Premier League table, as Crystal Palace edges closer to them in 12th. The win for Brighton boosted their hopes for European football next season, as they moved closer to Aston Villa in sixth, currently sitting at seventh.
Chelsea play Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge next hoping to overturn a 2-0 loss in the Champions League quarterfinal. As for Brighton, they play Manchester United in the FA Cup semifinal.
