Chelsea legend John Terry dumps Frank Lampard and company to join Leicester City as backroom staff member
John Terry will be assistant coach under Dean Smith in Leicester City.
Chelsea would lose their youth team consultant John Terry. Reports suggest that Leicester City has appointed Terry as assistant to Dean Smith along with Craig Shakespeare. The former Chelsea legend was under Dean Smith while managing Aston Villa. Terry supposedly left Villa after the results of the team were below the mark continuously for a series of games.
It was after which Terry said in an interview that he would not take up any managerial jobs until it came from his former club Chelsea. There were also speculations that the former England Captain would join his former teammate at Chelsea for the rest of the season.
Terry was also in line to become the interim manager for this season after Graham Potter was sacked from the job last week by The Blues. The Blues legend has been in the fray and was a part of Chelsea’s youth setup.
Todd Boehly’s management hired Lampard earlier this month. Reports said that Terry didn’t have much experience in managerial jobs as managing a youth club is not the same as managing a first team in competitions like Premier League. The current English boss had priorly managed Derby County in the Championship before joining Chelsea.
The Chelsea iconic defender during his days which is close to two decades has made more than 500 appearances for The Blues. During his tenure, the English defender has scored more than 50 goals and has been one of the highest-scoring English defenders in the Premier League. He has led his club and made them win the Premier League five times and has been the champions of both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

Chelsea appointed Frank Lampard after sacking Graham Potter. Chelsea didn’t have a successful campaign and have won only 10 games this season, losing 11 and drawing the rest. The English midfielder was removed from Stamford Bridge and getting replaced by Thomas Tuchel. The iconic former Chelsea midfielder joined Everton back in 2021.
The English Midfielder was sacked from his job due to his poor performance in Everton earlier this January. Lampard had a tumultuous season in Everton but saved the team from getting relegated from Premier League last season. Fans have also

You ‘evolve’ is probably a better word. I’ve always been very, very open to listening, to looking, to learning and reflecting. I’m certainly not a person who sits here and says ‘I’ve got all the answers’,” said Lampard.
“There are things I look back on, things where I think I’ve maybe improved. The results will always be in how I perform here and how I can affect the players now.”
It is now to see how Chelsea performs as the Blues would soon fly to Madrid to face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Chelsea fans find their chances in the tie to be slim.
