Chelsea sign French sensation Christopher Nkunku who missed 2022 FIFA World Cup due to injury
Chelsea officially sign Christopher Nkunku
French star Christopher Nkunku has finalized an agreement to join the Premier League club Chelsea, in the upcoming summer. The widely admired 25-year-old’s transfer fee has not been disclosed. It is improbable that he will be cheap as he is still contracted to German club RB Leipzig till June 2026.
Although he was selected for Didier Deschamps’ 2022 FIFA World Cup squad, the erstwhile PSG player hurt himself while practicing for the contest in Qatar. He has been rumored to join Stamford Bridge for a while following his excellent performance for Leipzig in the Bundesliga and Champions League.
All documentation associated with Nkunku’s transfer to Chelsea has been finished . The action is now “signed and sealed” as reported by Fabrizio Romano. Despite being among Europe’s best and most wanted attacking potentials, Nkunku won’t turn up in west London until the summer of 2023.
Cristopher Nkuku being only 25 years old, is a player that, if Chelsea decides to market him in the future, will only increase in worth. He can contribute to the line for Chelsea for a multitude of seasons to come. The presence of ex-RB Leipzig technical director Christopher Vivell, who recently accepted a position at Stamford, will benefit both the player and the club.
Christoper Nkunku’s football career
The 2022–23 season had an excellent beginning for Christopher Nkunku. He scored 17 goals in 23 games across all contests, with three in the Champions League. Along with Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante, and Karim Benzema, Nkunku was among the significant players that Les Bleus lost to injury before the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The forward moved from PSG to Leipzig in the summer of 2019 for about 13 million euros and flourished there. In 159 appearances for Leipzig, Nkunku has tallied 64 goals and 51 assists. Last season, he also garnered the German Cup and was titled the Bundesliga Player of the Season.
