“CANNOT be hosted in America!” – Massive gunfire at Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade has soccer fans worried about 2026 FIFA World Cup

The United States of America has a major ‘gun’ problem, with the citizens having the right to own firearms. The purpose of them owning it is only for self-defense, hunting, or recreational purposes. Unfortunately, many owners of guns cause problems for their citizens, as mass shootings are now a common occurrence.
The USA has had a combined 1992 mass shootings in the past three years, with a mass shooting happening at least once a day. It has been something that has worried many people around the globe. Many people call for reform, but incidents keep on occurring, like the one in Kansas City.
On 14th February, the Kansas City Chiefs held a parade in Kansas City after winning the Super Bowl LVIII. Towards the end of the parade, two suspects started shooting at the fans and chaos followed. The two suspects were arrested, while a juvenile was also taken in. Twenty-two people were injured due to the gunshots, out of which 11 were children, but one also lost their lives.
The shooting comes just a few days after the FIFA World Cup 2026 schedule was announced, which would take place in the US, Mexico, and Canada. They won the hosting rights in 2018, a couple of years after they lost the 2022 hosting rights to Qatar. Despite many fans adoring the FIFA World Cup, many fans are afraid to be in the United States to attend the competition.
Fans call for FIFA to take action ahead of 2026 World Cup
When the video of fans being afraid during the mass shooting, football fans online were not too sure if they wanted to attend the 2026 World Cup. The problem with gun violence has been prevalent in the US for a long time, which has made fans uneasy.
Many of them criticized the nation for its gun culture, stating how dangerous and backward it was to still allow guns to the public. They further called it one of the most dangerous countries to live in thanks to the gun laws.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to start on 11th June and will end on 19th July. This final will be played in the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey but has been renamed to “New York/New Jersey” Stadium.
