Cristiano Ronaldo has surpassed 450 million Instagram followers by becoming the first person on the planet to do so. In January of last year, the Manchester United attacker became the first individual to surpass 200 million followers on Twitter. The official handle of the social media site, which presently has 515 million followers, is second only to the Portugal captain.

Last season, Ronaldo decided to return to the Premier League after joining Manchester United from Juventus during the summer transfer window. Since his comeback, he has scored 18 goals in 30 games for the team this season. He finished the season as the league’s second-highest goalscorer, ahead of Harry Kane, Sadio Mane, and others.

His initial spell with the Premier League club came to an end in 2009, when he moved to Real Madrid, where he received legendary status and won every individual and collective accolade.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is currently on international duty. Cristiano scored a magnificent brace against Switzerland in Portugal’s 4-2 win in the UEFA Nations League. He also assisted one in the game setting up William Carvalho for the game’s opening goal. He is currently international football‘s highest goal scorer with 117 goals.

He dedicated both his goals by pointing to the sky, a tribute to his newborn son who passed away tragically earlier this year.

Recently the Manchester United man was quoted saying “Records follow me”. We cannot agree more with Cristiano as he keeps breaking records so often. 

He happened to break another record, this time off the field by reaching the 450 million milestones on Instagram. He will be eyeing to reach the 500 million mark very soon, and eventually overtaking Instagram to become the highest followed account on the platform.
