According to reports in Spain, Jorge Mendes has suggested that Cristiano Ronaldo leave Manchester United this summer and go back to Juventus. Only a year ago did the Portugal international switch from Turin to Old Trafford. However, given that the Red Devils missed out on Champions League eligibility, it appears that he may depart the defunct Premier League powers this summer.

Ronaldo wasn’t originally planned to be acquired by Manchester United a year ago. However, the Red Devils made the decision to step in and stop the attacker from choosing to join Manchester City when it became clear he would be leaving Juventus.

Ronaldo didn’t let everyone down in his first season back at United, scoring 24 goals despite a challenging season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick. His goals, however, weren’t enough to help the Red Devils advance to the Champions League knockout stages.

And now, according to Sport, Mendes is attempting to arrange for the 37-year-stunning old’s return to Juventus this summer. Ronaldo previously played for the Serie A powerhouses for three years, leading them to two Scudetto victories.

But he made the decision to depart a year ago after determining it was time to move on to a different challenge. Last season, Juventus finished in the top four, although 16 points behind league champion AC Milan, who won the title for the first time in more than ten years. However, Mendes is alleged to have “suggested” to his client that they return to the Allianz Stadium this summer. However, Ronaldo would have to accept a wage drop as he now makes close to £400,000 each week in Manchester.

Additionally, Juventus is now concentrating on other players. Since the France international just left United on a free transfer for a second time, Paul Pogba is their first objective.
