Brazil legend Rivaldo has said Cristiano Ronaldo could still have a role to play at Real Madrid, despite being 38 years old. The 1999 Ballon d’Or winner spoke of the Portuguese’s decision to move to Saudi Arabia.

“I understand that sometimes players are fooled by the big contract they sign in Saudi Arabia. But over there, life is more closed, and football is not always as easy as expected,” the former Barcelona player said.

“So maybe you are going through a phase of disappointment and even reflection. It would be good for him and football to see Cristiano Ronaldo return to Real Madrid to finish his career. Of course, the fans have to understand that they can’t demand the same from him as when he was 25 or 26. But he can still help the club in more conquests,” he added.

Cristiano Ronaldo is an undisputed Real Madrid legend and probably the greatest player in the club’s history. He decided to leave the Spanish capital amidst tension in 2018. Two final European spells, first with Juventus (2018-2021) and then Manchester United (2021-2022), preceded his departure for Al Nassr this winter.
