Portuguese Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was accused of rape by Kathryn Mayorga, back in 2009. Leslie Mark Stovall, Kathryn’s lawyer who fought the case against Ronaldo, was said to have obtained “purloined” documents. The case was then thrown out by US Federal Judge Jennifer Dorsey back in June 2022. Recent leaked reports suggest that Leslie Stovall has been ordered to pay $335,000 as reimbursement of legal fees to Ronaldo.
Kathryn Mayorga alleged that Cristiano Ronaldo raped her in 2009, in a hotel in Las Vegas. However, the Al-Nassr forward strongly rejected the allegations. She went on to file a lawsuit against Ronaldo in 2018 after Football Leaks reportedly released details of Ronaldo’s communications with his lawyer. The allegations were ruled out by US Judge Jennifer Dorsey after ruling that Stovall had obtained the leaked records from Football Leaks and presented them in the lawsuit.
Since then, Cristiano Ronaldo’s lawyer Peter Christiansen asked the Judge to hold Stovall personally responsible. He presented that Stovall should be charged $626,000 as attorney’s fees, after the case was ruled out. However, Court Documents filed on February 14, 2023 revealed that the Judge only granted a little more than half of what Ronaldo’s attorney demanded. Stovall has reportedly been ordered to pay $334,637.50 as reimbursement of the legal fees.

Cristiano Ronaldo “shares at least part of the blame,” in the rape lawsuit according to US Federal Judge

US Federal Judge Jennifer Dorsey overruled the rape allegations against Cristiano Ronaldo in June 2022. The US Judge stated that the alleged victim’s lawyer Leslie Stovall used stolen and leaked records as part of their lawsuit. However, Ronaldo’s motion was only granted a little more than half of what his lawyer demanded. $334,637.50 out of the proposed $626,000 was granted by the Judge.
She stated on February 14 that Ronaldo “shares at least part of the blame for this case dragging on” because he had not attempted to disqualify Stovall earlier. She further stated in her statement that Stovall’s allegations were rooted from stolen documents. “Even at early stage of litigation it was clear… that (Mayorga’s) allegations were rooted in the purloined material.”
The US Judge also stated that the case had some “dubious underpinnings” and that meant some legal work “could have been avoided”. Mayorga requested the Las Vegas Police to re-investigate the case back in 2018, however the claims could not ‘be proven beyond reasonable doubt.’
