“Lucky in game, unlucky in love,” Dani Alves’ wife drops cryptic message indicating a possible divorce
The pair married in 2017 in a private ceremony in Ibiza.
Spanish model Joana Sanz could end her relationship with Brazilian footballer Dani Alves. He is in prison after being accused of sexual assault by a woman in a nightclub on December 30 in Barcelona, Spain.
Sanz seems to have left a message on her Instagram account as she was bowling, and with a play on words, she implied that the relationship with her husband, would end. “Neither in the game nor in love,” posted Joana Sanz. It seems to be a reference to the phrase: “Lucky in the game, unlucky in love.”
The Spanish model visited Dani Alves on February 5 at the Brians Two penitentiary centre in Barcelona for a 50-minute session, days after rumours of their possible divorce had been circulating. She also recently travelled to Dubai to promote the opening of a Spanish beauty firm’s first store and clinic in one of Dubai’s most important and luxurious shopping malls, and she returned to meet her husband.
Alves has been imprisoned for almost two months as a result of the allegations. Bail has not been set, in part because he is considered a flight risk. His lawyer’s most recent defence strategy failed in court, and he remains imprisoned until the verdict is read.
The player’s defence lawyer proposed alternatives such as bail, withdrawing his passport, wearing a telematic bracelet, or appearing in court, but the Barcelona Court of Appeals rejected them because they did not eliminate the risk of absconding. The ex-Barcelona star will remain incarcerated until further developments occur.

How has Dani Alves dealt with the situation?
The Brazilian vehemently denied the allegations when he first spoke up, however, he has changed his story multiple times since. Regardless, Alves and his lawyer’s larger point remains the same – that he is innocent.
Despite his predicament, Dani Alves vowed to fight for his freedom. The Brazilian, on the other hand, is ready to take whatever comes his way. He reportedly said: “I will accept whatever comes. I left home when I was barely 15 years old. I have overcome very difficult and complicated situations in my life. This will be one more that will pass. Nothing scares me.”
Dani Alves’ mother is also completely convinced of his innocence and posted multiple Instagram stories regarding the same. The player risks up to 12 years in prison if he is convicted.
