“I’m hoping to give it everything”- Darwin Nunez believes he is the perfect fit for Liverpool

Darwin Nunez signs for Liverpool

After joining Liverpool for £85 million, Darwin Nunez is committed to becoming a title winner. The striker passed his physical as the Reds decided to pay Benfica £64 million-plus £21 million in add-ons.

Nunez, 22, said after signing a six-year agreement for £150,000 per week. “Winning trophies and championships is one of the reasons I came here to Liverpool.” At Liverpool, I hope to win a lot of trophies, Nunez said.

“When I arrived at the training facility, I was blown away by the setup and organization, as well as all the trophies.  You can then imagine yourself winning more trophies. “ Then there’s the time when you come back here and see the trophies on display.

Darwin Nunez is the latest addition to Liverpool:

Nunez scored 34 goals in 41 appearances for Benfica last season, including one in each of Jurgen Klopp’s side’s Champions League quarter-final matches. He replaces Divock Origi, who vacated the No. 27 shirt.

He will almost probably replace Sadio Mane if Bayern Munich can match or come close to Liverpool’s £42 million asking price for him with one year left on his contract. And the 6ft 2in striker is confident he made the correct decision in a deal that might cost £10 million more than current record signing Virgil van Dijk.

After rejecting interest from both Manchester United and Newcastle, he held pre-transfer conversations with Klopp and made it obvious that the red half of Merseyside was his preferred destination.

“It’s going to complement my style of play since there are some fantastic players here.” It’s a huge club, and I’m hoping to give it everything I’ve got to help the squad.”

He began his career in Uruguay’s second level before going to Almeria in Spain’s second division. He then joined Portuguese heavyweights Benfica for £20.5 million two years ago.

Klopp believes that his arrival will help Liverpool reduce the gap on Manchester City, who edged them to the Premier League title last season.
