United, along with rival Premier League side Newcastle, has launched a £68 million (€80 million) bid for the striker, according to RMC Sport. Nunez, on the other hand, is claimed to have turned down both clubs owing to his intention to keep playing in the Champions League, which he has dominated this season.

According to the Mirror, there are the only two teams who have made proposals for the Uruguayan frontman so far, while Paris Saint-Germain is still interested in him. PSG is concerned that Kylian Mbappe may depart as a free agent this summer, while Mauro Icardi, the club’s only other recognized striker, has uncertainties about his future.

Nunez’s biggest goal came in Benfica’s Round of 16 triumphs over Ten Hag’s Ajax, and he also scored in both legs of Benfica’s quarter-final against Liverpool, which Benfica lost 6-4 on aggregate. The attacker made an impact in the group stage triumph over Barcelona, scoring a double in the 3-0 win.
