“Dembele is doing more,” France legend overlooks Kylian Mbappe and names the two best players in the 2022 French World Cup Squad
Patrice Evra and Kylian Mbappe
Many are counting on Kylian Mbappe to lead France to glory in Qatar, and the 23-year-old forward has already made an impressive start to the tournament. He has scored three times in the group stage, including two goals in the pivotal victory over Denmark that secured France’s spot in the Round of 16. His impressive tally of 31 goals in 62 games for his national side is a testament to his quality.
Patrice Evra, the former French captain, has noticed that Kylian Mbappe has been playing well in the finals, though he does not think he has been the best player on the team. Evra also does not think that Mbappe will be the most important player for the French side.
The ex- French captain said: “Ousmane Dembele is doing more than Mbappe. Dembele is destroying every full-back. For me, he’s the player of the tournament for France so far. I’ve been impressed with Antoine Griezmann. He’s been a key player. Mbappe, I’m not surprised by him. He’s breaking records, he’s already on three goals. But Dembele is a threat every minute. Every time he’s got the ball, he’s been a threat. That’s the player I hope stays fit, because he’s France’s most threatening player.”
Kylian Mbappe and Lewandowski will come head-to-head as France and Poland meet for their World Cup R-16
Kylian Mbappe has been one of the most exciting players at the World Cup, and his French team is set to face Poland in the upcoming last-16 matchup. The Poles may have a chance to pull off a stunning win, but it will largely depend on Robert Lewandowski‘s performance. It is a startling reality that Mbappe has not yet reached his prime, yet he has already compiled seven goals in 10 appearances in the World Cup. The impressive feat includes a goal he scored in 2018 final when he was still a teenager, helping France win over Croatia in Moscow.
France is expected to win their match on Sunday, but there is a reminder of their loss in the last 16 of the European Championship last year. At that time, Mbappe failed to make the decisive penalty kick, leading to defeat at the hands of Switzerland. Poland only cut their group, with Mexico following closely behind. Robert Lewandowski’s goal in their victory over Saudi Arabia was essential for their advancement, being his first World Cup goal. The 34-year-old also netted nine goals during qualifying, and no other player in Czeslaw Michniewicz’s team can match his accomplishments.
Viewing the face-off between Mbappe and Lewandowski on the football field is a rare opportunity. They are two of the most productive goalscorers in the present day. However, they possess distinctive characteristics as strikers – one noted for his remarkable speed and attacking runs down the flanks and the other acclaimed for his prowess in the penalty area as he reaches the twilight of his career.
