Did Morocco’s En-Nesyri break Cristiano Ronaldo’s longest leap record at 2022 FIFA World Cup?
Morocco star El-Neysri breaks Cristiano Ronaldo's record during 2022 FIFA World Cup
Cristiano Ronaldo and his team Portugal were eliminated from the 2022 FIFA World Cup by Morocco in a shocking defeat in the quarterfinals. Portugal’s attack failed to overcome the solid defensive performance of the African trailblazers. A 1-0 close win was enough for Morocco to the semi-finals.
Moroccan forward En-Nesyri scored the match-winner. The goal by Nesyri was similar to Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal for Juventus versus Sampdoria in the Seria A in 2019. Following the goal, Cristiano Ronaldo was praised for his supernatural athletic abilities.
The Portugal captain was sent home from the 2022 FIFA World Cup by En-Nesyri’s goal, where he jumped to a crazy height of 8ft 4in. With his performance on Saturday, Sevilla’s star En-Nesyri raised the bar significantly. Although both men are 6’2″, Nesyri reached a vertical height of 2.78 meters, 22 Cm more than Ronaldo’s record three years ago.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the Moroccan star reached an astounding height of 9ft 1in as he passed Ruben Dias to ensure his country’s progression to the round of 16. As En-Nesyri leaped into the divine to touch Yahia Attiyat Allah’s pass, he almost appeared to glide in the sky.
En-Nesyri and Morocco’s road to the 2022 FIFA World Cup final
After defeating Belgium and Canada and earning a scoreless draw with Croatia, the African team took first place in Group F. Morocco celebrated its historic World Cup victory over Spain during the round of 16 match. They defeated Luis Enrique’s team 3-1 on penalties. Morocco became the first country from Africa to advance to the semifinals after a tough 1-0 victory over Portugal.
With Croatia, Belgium, Spain, and Portugal all struggling to overstep a rock-solid defensive line, Morocco has only allowed one goal in the entire competition—an own goal in their 2-1 group-stage victory over Canada. Nayef Aguerd, the centre-back for Morocco, was unable to play against Portugal due to a muscle injury, and Romain Saiss, his routine partner, had to be replaced due to a fairly frequent hamstring injury.
