Enzo Fernàndez, in his conversation, with B/R Football, gave insight into his first entire season at Chelsea. His experience with his first season has also become more interesting since Mauricio Pochettino became the new head coach of Chelsea.
Fernàndez and Pochettino share more than coach and player relations. Fernàndez said, “Now we have a new head coach, the expectations of us have changed. … The main aim this year is to win the Premier League.”
With Pochettino setting new standards for the team, it will be interesting for football fans to observe where Chelsea leads in the new season. The 22-year-old central midfielder aims to dominate games under the guidance of his new head coach.
Fernàndez found connecting with his new head coach easy and said, “Obviously, having an Argentine coach is much easier for me… We talked a bit about [the World Cup]… I think he enjoyed it a bit as well!” Fernàndez added language also significantly influenced their player-coach relationship. Since both are not native English speakers, he found it easier to connect with his head coach by speaking Spanish. It helped his confidence.
Nkunku vs Fernàndez: Is Enzo Fernàndez position at Chelsea in danger?
Christopher Nkunko and Enzo Fernàndez could be entering an inter-team rivalry. With Nkunku’s successful goal in sealing Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Fulham, comparisons between their performances are not far away.
According to The Sun, Fernàndez only got a match rating of 3 in establishing ratings from the match. On the other hand, Nkunku scored a match rating 8, much of which stems from a 41st-minute goal. So far, the World Cup winner Fernàndez’s much-anticipated performance has provided two assists in 18 matches. His goal record, however, had made no debut for Chelsea.
On the other hand, like Fernàndez, Nkunku is also a new signing to the club. The Blues confirmed his signing with £52m from RB Leipzig. Nkunku offers the flexibility to be played in various positions. Chelsea FC says, “He’s more than capable of dropping deeper into that second striker role, or even playing as a No.10, and creates goals as well as scoring them.”
Chelsea has a new makeover with a head coach and young likes Fernàndez and Pochettino. With Mauricio Pochettino as the new head coach, it will be interesting for football fans to explore his strategies and methods for talents like Fernàndez and Nkunku.
