As per the latest reports, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been given only £100 million to splash this summer on new signings by the club hierarchy. He has been reportedly informed not to cross the limit he has been bound to unless the club generate funds from player sales.
The Red Devil’s hierarchy has informed Ten Hag that he won’t be able to spend more than £100 million this summer transfer window. This is unless the manager can sell a few of his players to generate revenue. The club has already listed players that are surplus to the coach’s needs. And they will have to be dealt with really soon if Man United wants more funds to be allocated for the transfer window.
Man United are not reportedly in need of a fire sale like their rivals Chelsea. They have posted very promising financial results with third-quarter figures projecting full-year revenues will hit a record £630m to £640m. Apart from that their revenue’s also up 11% to £170m for the three months ending March 31. The real need for them to contain their spending to £100 million is due to the FFP restrictions for their previous overspending. They are now restricted by the tighter financial rules in place going forward.
Man United have listed players like Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Scott Mctominay, Fred, and Dean Henderson with whom they can part ways. They now have to deal with them first if they want to get on to their summer incoming.
Man United were earlier heavily linked with Chelsea’s Mason Mount. The bid was almost £55 million, but was rejected by Chelsea. Another target for Man United was Inter Milan’s goalkeeper Andre Onana. He was reportedly said to be the perfect replacement for David De Gea at the club.
Man United also wanted to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane. However, it now seems impossible as they are on a strict spending limit and don’t have enough to lure Tottenham to sell their captain.

Manchester United is on the verge to sign Watford defender Harry Amass
Manchester United is set to complete the signing of Watford’s highly-rated defender Harry Amass by the end of this week. He is reportedly seen as one of the best young talents in the game. A deal has been agreed for the 16-year-old. And it should see him move to Old Trafford imminently.
The left-back reportedly signed an early scholarship deal with Watford. This means United will have to pay compensation for the player accordingly to the Premier League’s Elite Player Performance Plan.
He has been at Watford since he was 9-years-old. Amass has already made appearances for the club’s U18 and U21 squads. This includes impressive performances against Everton and Arsenal in the FA Youth Cup. He also made the first team squad for their FA Cup tie with Reading last season. Although in that match, he was an unused sub.
Watford was desperate to hang on to their teenage prodigy and had offered him a pro contract beyond his scholarship deal. But it is believed Amass is now on his way to Manchester. The player has already featured for England at youth level.
He made his debut for the U15 side, aged 14 in December 2021. He is now part of the England U16 side. Amass is expected to be a part of the England squad that takes part in the U17 World Cup in November. Once the move is complete, he’ll be the second young prospect to leave Watford this window. Adrian Blake rejected a professional contract with the club and joined FC Utrecht in Holland.
