Erik ten Hag has new plans and new role for Jadon Sancho in his Manchester United return
The Dutch Manager believes that Sancho can help the team by playing multiple positions

Erik ten Hag, Manchester United manager, has announced in his post-match press conference his plan to use Jadon Sancho in a new No.10 role after the England international’s successful comeback game on Wednesday night. The English winger was on a prolonged session to work on his game and personality after a poor run of form since the start of the season. He registered his first appearance since playing against Omonia in the Europa League in October 2022.
United beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 with goals from Fred and Anthony Martial, securing their spot in the Carabao Cup final, 5-0 on Aggregate across two legs. The Carabao Cup final on 26th February. The former Ajax boss said, “Jadon, I know he can play as a 10 as well. He can play as a winger – he can play as a 10 – but often we mix it around and that is what I like. The position has to be occupied and it’s about the players keeping discipline to do that.“
Anthony Martial also marked his return to Old Trafford with a goal in the 73rd minute, Like Jadon Sancho, the Frenchman has also missed several games this season. Ten Hag was also happy to have another key player back, “We have had to make lots of compromises in the season so far so hopefully now they [all players back from injuries] are all available,” Ten Hag said.
“If you want to win trophies, you need them all to be available. You saw tonight you can bring a new dynamic off the bench… It’s a luxury problem [to have a big squad] but it’s how we wanted it. It’s normal at Manchester United to play every few days.” the Dutchman said about games coming thick and fast.
The Red Devils face off against Newcastle United in the Final at Wembley
The stage is set at Wembley as Manchester United and Newcastle go head-to-head in the Carabao Cup final, the first major domestic final of the 2022/23 English season.
