Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland were one of the best duos in European football during their time in Germany. Playing for Borussia Dortmund, the duo led the team to the DFB Pokal in 2021. That very summer, Sancho got his dream move to Manchester United and the two finished their lethal partnership.
Three years later, there has been a massive change in the career pathway of the duo. Haaland joined United’s noisy neighbors and local rivals, Manchester City. He is one of the best players in the world, has scored 71 goals in 75 games, and won the Golden Boot. Meanwhile, Sancho has been exiled from the Manchester United senior squad after a rather public falling out with manager Erik Ten Hag.
After their 3-1 loss to Arsenal early in the season, Erik ten Hag claimed Sancho wasn’t selected due to his poor efforts during training. In reply, the 23-year-old tweeted that what his manager said was false and that he was now a scapegoat for the team. Due to this tweet, Sancho was exiled from the senior squad and made to train with the reserves. Until he apologized to Ten Hag, he was forced to train in those conditions.
Despite the major change, the two remain strong friends. Haaland commented that was sad when Sancho left and now that he is close to returning to Germany, he sent a message for him. On his Instagram story, the striker uploaded a photo of him and Sancho posing with the DFB Pokal trophy, with the caption, “Proper baller that.”
Jadon Sancho inches closer at return to Borussia Dortmund
It didn’t take a detective to know that Jadon Sancho was no longer wanted at Manchester United despite the falling out happening months ago. To ensure he could play football, Sancho needed to move from the club.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the winger received offers from Italian Giants Juventus and former club Borussia Dortmund. There has been reported interest from Saudi Arabia and Chelsea as well, but it seems he is all set to return to Germany.
Sancho is keen on returning to Dortmund and the club is keen on reuniting as well. He has been match fit and the fans are excited as well. The current proposal is a 6-month loan, with Borussia Dortmund paying a share of his £300k per week wage. Along with that, they will need to pay United a loan fee, but they are sure the winger will bring positive change.
