Manchester United fans mocked Erling Haaland with his father's name
Manchester United fans trolled Man city striker Erling Haaland during the Manchester Derby at Old Trafford. The Red Devils fan left nothing in the tank to celebrate as their team defeated Manchester City 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday (January 14). The stadium chanted about the unsettling past of Norweigan striker’s father and former United captain Roy Keene, a tale many football fans know.
The Man City striker failed to make an impact like he would have imagined before the Derby. Later, he had to endure chants about former Manchester City midfielder Alf-Inge, his father. Haaland’s father has a long-standing rivalry with United legend Roy Keane.
The former EPL duo’s story is well known among football fans from the 90s and 2000s. The incident occurred in 2001 as Keane took his revenge on the City mid-fielder following a tackle Alf-Inge made on him, which ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in 1998. Alf-Inge had to retire from professional football earnly due to that injury and subsequent injuries.
The interesting thing about this story? Manchester United legend Keane waited almost 3 years to take his revenge and got a red card for his revenge tackle. “Haaland, Haaland, how’s your dad?,” The fans chanted, followed up by, “Keano, Keano.”
City took the lead in the 60th minute when Jack Grealish scored a brilliant header via Kevin De Bruyne‘s assist. However, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford scored two late goals to stun the defending Premier League champions.

Manchester United stunned the defending Premier League champions Manchester City coming back from a goal behind, beating them 2-1. However, the coach of the EPL champs suggested the result would not affect their hopes of winning the title.
“I don’t care about the Premier League and the Carabao Cup, we cannot win. We won a lot, so it’s not a problem. Problem is performing how we have done. Always we are focused on that,” he told BT Sport.
“Carabao Cup is out, it doesn’t matter. We didn’t perform how we wanted. Today we performed. Today, don’t be distracted by what happened with the first goal and focus,” he added, explaining it
It’s been a harsh week for Man City, who was first knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Southampton and are now defeated by Man United. The defending champions will slip behind by 8 points if Arsenal beats Tottenham in their upcoming fixture.
