Journalist Fabrizio Romano, on Saturday, clearly stated that he never reported about Tottenham Hotspurs’ interest in signing SSC Napoli’s Victor Osimhen after a fan page used his name to hint at the possible transfer. Napoli were crowned the champions of the Serie A league in 2023- a title they won after 36 years.
Romano clarified that he didn’t report the story about Levy in talks with Osimhen. Tottenham Hotspurs’ fan page Spur Xtra on Twitter stated that Fabrizio Romano had confirmed that Hotspurs’ President Daniel Levy enquired about Osimhen. Denying this, Romano himself denied the claim, trolling the page. He retweeted the post and added a caption that read, “Never Said That.”
Oshimen is currently one of the top strikers in Europe. The 24 years-old Nigerian striker played 39 matches for the current Serie A champions last season in which he scored 31 goals and made five assists throughout all competitions. Overall, the talented forward secured 3021 minutes of game time on the pitch last season.
Many top clubs like Manchester United Chelsea, and Paris Saint Germain are reportedly interested in signing the Nigerian striker following his phenomenal season in Serie A. However, Napoli is reluctant to sell their star striker as they feel it’s not the time to right time to part ways with their goal-machine. Although they might be open to letting the player go if they are paid €150 million.
Skysports Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio earlier reported about Napoli’s desired amount for the striker. He mentioned, “Aurelio De Laurentiis wants € 150 million for Osimhen. It’s an initial request. I think that the only two clubs in the Premier League that can try to get Victor Osimhen are Chelsea and Man United. In Ligue 1, PSG. I think Bayern Munich are out of this race.”

Tottenham Hotspur joins the race to sign Japanese defender Ko Itakura from Borussia Mönchengladbach
According to multiple reports, Tottenham Hotspur joined the race with Napoli to sign Borussia Mönchengladbach and Japan defender Ko Itakura earlier this week. The central defender joined Gladbach from Manchester City the previous toast €5m.
Reports stated the player has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Serie A champions Napoli largely see Itakura as a replacement for Kim-Min Jae. Kim-Min-Jae is reportedly set to ditch Napoli and set to move to Bayern Munich imminently. In the market for a replacement, Napoli is also monitoring the situation of Union Berlin’s Danilho Doekhi.
Keeping the Romano trolling aside, Osimhen also issued a firm response in favor of Napoli when asked about his future following the Italian outfit’s Serie A title success. The Nigeria international scored a total of 31 goals and provided five assists in 39 appearances this term, making both Chelsea and Manchester United interested in signing the 24-year-old this summer.
