In one of the most highly exciting matches of the season, Manchester United traveled to Anfield to face Liverpool. Many expected an easy win for Liverpool due to their great form and United’s horrid record in the stadium. Somehow, United managed to keep a clean sheet and leave Liverpool with a point. But they played the last few minutes with a man down thanks to a controversial call.
In one of Liverpool’s most dominating performances of the season, they had 69% possession and 34 shots with 8 on target. Despite this domination, United managed to keep a clean sheet. The back four of Jonny Evans, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot managed to handle Mohamed Salah and Co.
Unfortunately, Diogo Dalot was sent off by referee Michael Oliver for dissent. The twist? He received two yellow cards in a span of a few seconds. It occurred in the 93rd minute when he challenged Salah for the ball and the ball went out of bounds. Despite Salah having the last touch, Oliver decided to give the throw-in to Liverpool.
RED CARD FOR DALOT!!! ?

Dalot was understandably furious with the call and showed it by throwing his arms in the air. Oliver, seeing the dissent, awarded the defender a yellow card. Dalot did not react well and was shown another yellow card, which meant he got sent off. United played the remaining 2 minutes with a man down but left with a draw.
Fans of all clubs fuming after controversial call from Michael Oliver
The moment Dalot was sent off, many fans were left confused. They did not remember if Dalot had already been given a yellow card earlier in the match. When they realized he showed two yellows at one time, Oliver was abused and criticized by fans all over the Internet.
They called him a person with a God Complex, incompetent and scandalous. They called the referee’s decision one of the worst they had ever seen and then they realized he had done the same thing earlier, and they got more agitated. Oliver had shown Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli 2 yellows for fouling twice in the same passage.

I don’t like Man United but that Dalot red card has made me so angry. That’s disgraceful from Michael Oliver. Ridiculous decision.

Michael Oliver just gave two yellow cards within 5 seconds to Dalot for claiming that that it was our throw-in.

Funniest part of it all is, it actually was our throw in.
Nah the ref just sent Dalot off for that after he didn’t send Nunez off for sarcastically clapping him earlier

Joke.
The ref is a clown

Michael Oliver always trying to be the alpha and omega on the pitch

The first yellow was already enough , what the point of the second yellow ? — how do you give two yellows in like 5sec for dissent ?
This referees get away with too much because no one keeps them accountable
Have to feel for Dalot there. Had every right to be outraged at that throw in decision

This draw now means Liverpool drop down to 2nd, tied on points with Aston Villa and one point below table leaders Arsenal. Manchester United, who were 6th before the match, have also dropped down to 7th after Newcastle United beat Fulham.
