Ted Lasso’s new character, Zava, seems to have become an immediate fan favorite since his introduction to the show. As per multiple fans, the character is based on the life of AC Milan football player, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The newest installment of the series is currently streaming on Apple TV+. 

Played by Maximilian Osinski, who has previously acted in shows such as ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, Zava is considered to be a legendary player in the fictional world of Ted Lasso. The player had played for 14 top clubs in the last 15 years of his career, winning multiple trophies and championships during that time.

In the show, when AFC Richmond hears about his wish to depart from Juventus and join a new club, they immediately become interested. Fortunately for them, thanks to their owner Rebecca Welton’s antics, Zava decides to join the newly promoted club. The new character was introduced in the show’s third season’s second episode.

Fans react to Zava’s similarity to Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The character, Zava, appears to be clearly based on Swedish football legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The character resembles Zlatan to a certain extent in both physique and demeanor.

In terms of his physical appearance, much like Zlatan, Zava has a tall, lean physique and also flaunts a man bun. As for his mannerisms, Zava is much like a diva and considers himself to be the best in terms of everything, another trait very much associated with the veteran player.

Ted Lasso initially aired on Apple TV+ in 2020 where it opened to rave reviews as it went on to win multiple Emmy Awards. The show stars Jason Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, and many others in leading roles. However, this new season of Ted Lasso is also rumored to be the last.
