Former FC Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi has held Spanish media by their neck once again after arriving in Barcelona. He was seen reuniting with his former teammates and friends Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba on Monday night. The three FC Barcelona veterans, along with their partners, went out on a dinner in the city of Barcelona upon La Pulga’s long-awaited arrival.
Lionel Messi’s wife, Antonella Roccuzzo posted this picture online, where the three footballers and their respective wives are seen posing for a group picture. The Argentine posted the picture on her Instagram profile. It appears that Messi and his family have come to Spain for a vacation after the Argentine’s hard-fought FIFA World Cup victory in Qatar. The PSG star made an appearance in the Catalan city two days after scoring a game-winning freekick in Ligue 1.
The 35-year-old World Cup winner is yet to extend his contract with French champions Paris Saint-Germain. After a slow start to life in Ligue 1, Messi might be contemplating spending the concluding years of his career in France. According to various outlets, Lionel Messi is closer to joining the MLS than making a comeback to his boyhood club.
The former Barcelona forward’s future is still uncertain in France. The Argentine sensation is enjoying the time of his life after lifting the FIFA World Cup trophy. As discussed above, Messi is looking for a change from his current club. While many fans wonder where the iconic footballer would go next, Barcelona fans surely believe he has some unsettled business with their club. Not to forget, Lionel Messi was forced out of Camp Nou in 2021. Sadly, Joan Laporte‘s administration failed to renew his contract due to financial restrictions.
This could be the opportunity for Alba and Busquets to convince their friend to join the Catalans again. Spanish manager Xavi Hernandez has brought a significant change in Barcelona’s mentality, and approach to the game. Adding a world-class playmaker to their squad would surely be an advantage for the La Liga giants.
Lionel Messi spent his entire football career at FC Barcelona before leaving for PSG in 2021. The veteran has scored over 474 goals in 520 appearances for the club. He is FC Barcelona’s highest goal-scorer, as well as the player with the most assists for the club. La Pulga won everything with the Blaugrana, including two trebles. Do you think Messi would finally move back to FC Barcelona to continue his legacy?
