Barcelona go 12 points clear at the top of La Liga, after beating Real Madrid 2-1 in an entertaining affair at the Camp Nou. Los Blancos went ahead thanks to an own goal from Ronald Araujo, but Barcelona equalised through Sergi Roberto. The game was extremely open, with chances on both ends. Substitue Franck Kessie grabbed a late winner in the 92nd minute, thanks to a brilliant assist from Alex Blade.

Real Madrid started wonderfully, scoring via an own goal in the ninth minute. Vinicius Jr. clipped the ball into the middle from near the byline, but Araujo got a glance at it, sending it past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. However, Barcelona was dominant in the first half, creating problems for Real Madrid with their high press. However, Real, as always, held its own. Thibaut Courtois made a remarkably superb fingertip save from a powerful Raphinha strike. Roberto equalised on the brink of half-time after Antonio Rudiger had blocked a Raphinha shot. The Spaniard made no mistake when the ball fell to him, firing it into the near post.

The home side continued to dominate in the second half but was always vulnerable to counters. Real possessed a significant threat to Vinicius but was unable to make anything happen. Robert Lewandowski had a shot go just wide after a deflection from Eduardo Camavinga. Rodrygo had an excellent chance to give Real Madrid the lead, but Gavi blocked his attempt. A few minutes later, Lewandowski was open at the back post, but his scissor kick went over the bar.

The game opened up as time passed, but Barcelona continued to create more chances. Courtois tipped a Raphinha shot wide before Lewandowski narrowly missed a first-time shot towards the near post. Substitute Marco Asensio thought he had given Real Madrid the lead in the 81st minute, but he was offside. Franck Kessie won the game for Barcelona with a simple tap in, after some sublime play by youngster Alex Balde on the left wing.

The result means Barcelona have all but wrapped up La Liga. The Catalans now have a 12-point lead over their fierce rivals, with less than a third of the season to play. Real Madrid fans will be disappointed. However, they are still favourites to win the UEFA Champions League.

Both teams will have two weeks off due to the international break. Barcelona travels to Elche on April 2, while Real Madrid host Real Valladolid on the same day. The two teams will meet again on April 6 in the Copa del Rey semi-final.
