Fans were left in splits after a video emerged on social media, which showed the Manchester City bus arriving at the Etihad for their match against Chelsea. The team’s arrival was met with very few chants and cheers from home fans, as the atmosphere was labeled as ‘dull’.


Manchester City under Pep Guardiola reached new heights, after the club secured three back-to-back Premier League titles, and won the treble last season. Despite their multiplying success, the club has often been criticized for the lack of support from fans around England. There have often been instances when the team was greeted with low crowd support and empty stands at the Etihad. A recent video emerged of the City side arriving in their team-bus, as the home fans struggled to ramp up the anticipation.

Despite the highly anticipated match in Manchester, the rainy weather dampened the home supporters’ excitement. Despite efforts from the announcer to energize the crowd, only a few cheers and calm applause could be heard.

The announcer continued to try to maintain enthusiasm, introducing the manager and the rest of the City squad as they arrived. While some players received slightly more attention, overall, the response was subdued. Rival fans took the opportunity to mock Manchester City and its fans, with some claiming that a school is much noisier than the Etihad Stadium.


Other than the atmosphere, the match also turned out to be a disappointing one for the Citizens. The club were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Chelsea, who had initially taken a lead through Raheem Sterling’s goal. Rodri’s 83rd-minute goal ensured a draw for the home side, The team has slipped to the 3rd position.

Netizens took a dig at Manchester City after video showed a ‘dull’ atmosphere outside the Etihad

Internet users and football fans reacted to a viral video that showed the fans outside the Etihad Stadium, welcoming the team bus, ahead of their match against Chelsea. Rivals took a dig at the club and it’s supporters for the low chants and weak noises, during the arrival of the team. Despite the announcer’s motivation to cheer for the team, the fans rarely responded to it.

Fans shared their reactions on the social media platform ‘X’. While the City supporters were left disheartened at the low noises from the crowd, the rival fans mocked the team. One fan stated that the team shouldn’t have got down from the bus, with such low support. Another fan hilariously expressed that there is more noise and a better atmosphere at a car boot sale, than at the Etihad.

The team also struggled to make much noise on the pitch once the match got underway. One fan distastefully wrote that he found the entire situation highly pathetic, and had to switch off his television to avoid watching it.
