Sam Kerr scored again to win Chelsea Women’s FA Cup final against Manchester United Women. In a cagey affair, the relentless Australian broke the deadlock in the 68th minute.

The first half was primarily controlled by underdogs United, who put some early pressure on the Blues. However, they could not turn that into any big chances, as both sides managed a combined three shots on target in the first 45.

The game became slightly more stretched in the second half, with Chelsea growing into the game and getting in behind the United defence. Sam Kerr capitalised on this, opening the scoring in the 68th minute. Pernille Harder had the ball on the right wing, and the Dane sent a low cross towards the far post. The ball landed perfectly at the feet of Kerr, who made no mistake from close range.

The Australian continued her dominance against Manchester United, with this being her eighth goal in eight games against the Red Devils. It was also the 10th goal in seven finals for the Blues talisman. Kerr was not the only one to break records, with the 77,390 fans in attendance at Wembley being a world-record attendance for a domestic cup game. It is also the record for any domestic women’s club game.

Manchester United and Chelsea continue their rivalry in the Women’s Super League, where the Red Devils are currently at the top of the table. Sam Kerr’s side are one point behind with a game in hand and will be confident of securing their sixth WSL title.

United, meanwhile, are in uncharted territory, having never won the competition. They are on a five-match winning streak, with their last loss coming against Chelsea more than two months ago. The Red Devils will be hoping for a Chelsea slip-up against third-placed Arsenal next Sunday. However, it will be a tough ask for the Gunners, with the squad ravaged by long-term injuries to the likes of Leah Williamson and Vivviane Miedema.
