“Selling a jersey for €400; Broke club”- Fans react to Barcelona wearing Rosalia’s special jersey in El-Clasico
Fans made fun of Barcelona after their latest business decision.
FC Barcelona will replace the Spotify symbol on their shirt with a logo from Spanish pop singer Rosalia for this weekend’s El Clasico against Real Madrid, the Catalans announced on Wednesday. Barcelona has changed their shirt for the Clasico twice this season. They previously wore Canadian rapper Drake’s “OVO Owl” logo when Madrid won 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu in October.
Barcelona can put different artists on their shirts as part of a four-year sponsorship deal agreed in 2022. The deal with music streaming platform Spotify is worth around 280 million euros. Rosalia is one of Spain’s most successful singers and has been named Forbes’ Woman of the Year twice. Barcelona’s shirt will feature her “Motomami” logo. It refers to the title of her third studio album, which will be released in 2022.
“Barca and Spotify have picked Rosalia because it is a year ago this month that her album Motomami was released, a record that has stretched the boundaries of contemporary music,” the Catalan club said before Sunday’s game at Camp Nou. In 2022, Rosalia was the most streamed artist born in Spanish territory on Spotify. She was also the most-played female artist in Barcelona in 2022.
Previously, the club did not sell replica shirts with the Drake logo. However, 1899 editions of this strip, along with 22 limited edition jerseys that have glow-in-the-dark lettering, are now available for 1,999.99 euros each. Barcelona Femini will also wear the special Motomami kit when they face Real Madrid in Liga F on March 25.

Fans slam Barcelona’s decision
Barcelona beat Athletic Club 1-0 on Sunday, with a goal from Raphinha towards the end of the first half. They host Real Madrid in El Clasico on March 19, in a game that will likely decide the title. The Catalans are currently nine points clear at the top of La Liga, with 13 games to play. They possess the best home and away record in the division, having conceded only one goal at Camp Nou this season.
