Lionel Messi has taken MLS by storm. The Argentine has managed to rack up 5 goals and 2 assists for Inter Miami in just 3 games. In his latest game against Orlando City, his team defeated them 3-1. Messi scored a brace to help complete the rout. Looking at his sublime form, Orlando decided to use a tactic familiar with Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid to stop him. They tried to constantly foul him so that they could physically restrict his movement.
After scoring a goal, Messi celebrated with the famous ‘Wakanda Forever’ celebration from the Black Panther movie. Many sportspersons across the globe have done it after the movie’s huge success. They also use it to pay tribute to the actor Chadwick Boseman who prematurely passed away in 2020.
The Barcelona legend scored the first goal in the seventh minute giving them the lead. But Orlando’s Cesar Araujo equalized for them setting up a tense match. That’s when Orlando fully started to unleash their fouling tactic. This angered Messi as he exchanged words with Araujo during halftime. It was reminiscent of the Argentina-Netherlands game in the World Cup where the forward lost his cool at Louis Van Gaal.
Miami got a penalty in the 51st minute which was taken by Josef Martinez. He successfully put the ball into the net to restore his team’s lead. After some time, in the 72nd minute, Messi scored again to ensure the win. It was another brilliant performance by the Argentine who has not shown any signs of struggle since he arrived.
